What's your favorite--or lucky--number?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 08, 2007:

I like the numbers 8 and 12. I don't really know why...probably because they are even numbers.

You've got one month of complete freedom. What do you do?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 07, 2007:

Sit on the beach with a giant stack of books. Or maybe travel all over Europe on a motorcycle. And, ofcourse, I would have to throw away my watch : )

If you could stop your aging indefinitely, would you?

Posted on Jun 6th, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 06, 2007:

If it only stops my body from aging, then yes. I enjoy being young. And I know too many older people that always seem so tired and miserable. They don't have any energy and they're always going to the doctor for one thing or the other. Being old just seems to take up most of their time. And I'm really not looking forward to being that way.
But if I had to stop my mind from maturing as well, then I would have to say no. I still have a lot to learn about life. And besides, what's the point of living if we're not learning?

What does summer mean to you?

Posted on Jun 1st, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 01, 2007:

Summer was the time when I got to visit my family that was scattered all over the United States. On the first day after school was over, my mom and dad would pack me in the car and drive to Pennsylvania. After a few weeks visiting my mother's family there, we would drive all the way down to Texas to visit my father's family. Then it was off to California and sometimes Alaska to visit with aunts and uncles I barely knew. Then we would drive back to North Carolina and spend the remaining week or two at the beach.
Summer was always a very busy time for my family. I loved the road trips, but I was usually more than ready to head back to school by the end of summer.

What would you tell someone who felt alone?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 27, 2007:

I'd tell them that I feel alone, too. So atleast they're not alone in that.

Where did your name come from?

Posted on May 22nd, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 21, 2007:

My father got my name from a nurse at the hospital in Scotland where I was born. My mother was still sleeping, but the nurse asked my father what my name was going to be. Since my parents hadn't decided on a name for me yet, he asked the nurse what name she liked. She said that Rachel was a nice first name, and that he should make my middle name Elizabeth (after the Queen.) My mother was disappointed when she woke up and found out that my dad had named me without her approval, but she liked the name so it stayed.
If I remember correctly, Rachel is a Hebrew name that means "innocent lamb."

What purpose does money serve in your life?

Posted on May 19th, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 17, 2007:

I don't really like money, but it is a necessary evil. Without it, I wouldn't have a house or clothes or food and I wouldn't be able to do the things I enjoy. But it is easy for me to get by with the bare minimum of money in my pocket. I once spent two weeks in France with only 150 euros, but I doubt I would be able to do something like that here in the United States.

What's the most important thing you own?

Posted on May 19th, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 08, 2007:

That's a good question. I would say my dog, but in actuality I don't own him. He's really a part of my family. So I suppose the most important thing that I own is my collection of photographs. My photos are of old friends and family members that I haven't seen in years, or places that I've been. I guess they are so important to me because they're like memories. They're personal and one-of-a-kind, and I could never replace them.

What do you really want?

Posted on May 19th, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 19, 2007:

I want to be unselfish and altruistic. I wish I could stop worrying about material things so much. I want to be able to concentrate on things that really matter, like family and love.

What qualities do you seek in a partner?

Posted on May 19th, 2007 by Rachel : optimistic realist Rachel
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 15, 2007:

They would have to be honest, understanding, imaginative, and real. I could never be with anyone who pretended to be somebody theyr'e not. I can't stand it when people lie about what they think or feel just so they can be accepted by the crowd.
